Bookshelf plans sell as paid PDFs at one fixed size, and none of them checks whether the shelf will sag. This is your dimensions with the span checked. Payment is not open and the full PDF is yours either way; a number is the only thing that decides whether this gets built out further.

How it works
The cut list and the span check, from the same numbers
- Enter the wall you are filling and what will sit on the shelves.
- The span is checked with the standard beam-deflection formula, including the sag wood adds over the years.
- If it fails you get the fixes in order of cost, not just a warning. Then print the elevation and the cut list.

Before you cut anything
Where does the sag number come from?
The deflection of a uniformly loaded beam supported at both ends, with published stiffness values per material. Wood creeps, so the figure includes the extra half again that a shelf picks up over time. The accepted limit is 0.02 inches of droop per foot of span.
What if one heavy thing sits in the middle?
Say how much it weighs and it is worked out separately. A weight in one place sags a shelf about 1.6 times as much as the same weight spread along it, so an aquarium or a printer can fail a shelf that a row of books would pass. If most of the sag turns out to be that one object, the plan says to move it over a support.
How exact is it?
Stiffness values are laboratory averages for a species, and a real board varies. Treat a result close to the limit as a fail, and buy the thicker stock.
How do I use the drilling template?
Print at 100 per cent with no scaling, then measure the 100 mm ruler on the sheet before you drill anything. Cut the strip out, stand it on the inside floor of the cabinet, and drill through every cross. A tall cabinet needs more than one sheet: each one repeats the last hole of the one before, and lining those two up is what keeps the run straight.
Why suggest a divider first?
Sag rises with the fourth power of the span, so halving the span is worth far more than any change of material. It is also the cheapest thing to add.
